  • Matt Kelly is the CEO of JBG SMITH and a member of the Board of Trustees. Prior to the formation of JBG SMITH, Mr. Kelly served as a Managing Partner of the JBG Companies and was co-head of JBG’s Investments Group and primarily responsible for investment strategy and the investment and acquisition activity of the JBG Investment Funds. Prior to joining the JBG Companies in 2004, he was a co-founder of ODAC Inc., a media software company, and worked in private equity and investment banking with Thomas H. Lee Partners in Boston and Goldman Sachs, & Co in New York.  

    Mr. Kelly currently serves as Chairman of Nareit and Chairman of the Board of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. He is a member of the Board of MedStar Health and the Urban Institute. He is also past Chairman of the Board of the Medstar Washington Hospital Center, the largest hospital in Washington, DC. He is a member of the Faculty at the Harvard Business School and serves as an Executive in Residence of the Steers Center at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. He holds an AB with honors from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

  • Vardahn is a Vice President in the Investments group at JBG SMITH where he is responsible for an ~$85M portfolio across: (i) digital infrastructure business unit, and (ii) venture capital investments. The digital infrastructure platform is recognized as the first-of-its-kind last mile deployment and is highlighted as one of the firm’s key demand drivers alongside Amazon HQ2, US DoD (Pentagon), and Virginia Tech’s $1B innovation campus. In addition to the digital infrastructure and venture capital portfolio, Vardahn supports various other strategic initiatives and special projects. Prior to joining JBGS, Vardahn was the lead consultant in Accenture’s Smart Cities and Digital Infrastructure practice where he worked across industries (public sector, real estate, telecom, oil & gas) on strategy, investment, and operations consulting. Vardahn is based in the Washington, DC Metro and holds a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from Cornell University, an M.S. in Smart Cities & Urban Analytics from the University College London, and a Certificate in Commercial Real Estate Analysis and Investment from MIT (employer-sponsored).


  • Mr. Regan‐Levine is Chief Strategy Officer of JBG SMITH. Mr. Regan‐Levine helps shape the firm’ investment approach with data and analytics and works on large scale strategic initiatives, investor relations/capital raising, and innovation projects as well as partnerships outside the traditional real estate transaction landscape. Mr. Regan-Levine’s work is typically cross-vertical focused on product or process enhancement – particularly at the intersection of market research and design. He manages JBG SMITH’s Venture Capital investments and is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and Operating Committee.

    Prior to joining The JBG Companies (predecessor to JBG SMITH) in 2013, Mr. Regan‐Levine was an Associate with Monday Properties and served for two years in market research with JLL where he acted as an advisor for a wide variety of JLL’s investor and occupier clients and was involved in several national and international consulting and research projects often focused on location and market intelligence and analytics for large corporate relocation requirements and investor clients.

    Mr. Regan‐Levine graduated Magna Cum Laude in Government from Georgetown University.
